The Klinikum Nordfriesland is a health facility under public ownership with four locations in Husum , Niebüll , Tönning and on the island of Foehr in Schleswig-Holstein ,
to the clinic includes three acute care hospitals, a regional health center, three medical care centers with 13 medical specialists and two vocational schools. With more than 1,400 employees and more than 200 training positions, it is one of the largest employers on the Schleswig-Holstein North Sea coast . The clinic is an academic teaching hospital of the University of Hamburg .

history

The first hospital in Husum was built at its current location in 1883. The first island clinic, "Bethanien", followed in 1893 on the island of Föhr with seven beds. In October 1900 the Tönning Clinic was opened. The first hospital in Niebüll was opened in 1929. This became necessary after the referendum of 1920, when the previous clinic location in Tondern became Danish.

After an eventful history in different sponsorships, the four hospitals got a joint sponsor with a central administration in Husum with the merger of the previous districts of Eiderstedt , Husum and Südtondern to form the new district of North Friesland on December 31, 1972 with the district of North Friesland.

On January 1, 2005, the previous municipal facility became Klinikum Nordfriesland gGmbH, sponsored by the Nordfriesland district.

Klinikum Nordfriesland gGmbH is the joint (parent) company of the facilities at the four locations. The company and management headquarters with various central facilities, such as the hospital pharmacy and central kitchen, are in Husum. The clinic has a general works council.

Husum location

The Husum acute care hospital for basic and standard care has 277 beds and 24 day clinic places. The clinic has a 24-hour emergency department and a 24-hour standby of the left heart catheter measuring station. It has a helipad. The clinic ensures emergency medical care in the region. In addition, the Husum practice of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians in Schleswig-Holstein is located on the 2nd floor. The clinic's MVZ practices are also active on site.

The Husum Clinic is a local trauma center and a founding member of the HERZZENTRUMS NORDsee, a joint facility of the North Friesland Clinic, the cardiological specialists in North Friesland and the University Heart Center at the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf.

In the immediate vicinity of the clinic there is a specialist medical center with various specialist practices, a medical supply store, hearing aid acousticians and a pharmacy.

Niebüll location

The Niebüll acute hospital for basic and standard care has 126 beds and 17 day clinic places. The clinic has a 24-hour emergency department; it is the air rescue center of the German Air Rescue. The clinic provides emergency medical care in the region. In addition, the Niebüll contact practice of the Schleswig-Holstein Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians is located in the basement. The clinic's MVZ practices are also active on site.

The Inselklinik Föhr-Amrum acute hospital with limited basic and standard care has 18 beds. The clinic has a 24-hour emergency department. There is an MVZ specialist practice for surgery at the site.

The Tönning Regional Health Center is a purely outpatient facility of the North Friesland Clinic. Acute illnesses are treated during the opening hours of the MVZ specialist practices in the facility.

education

The Klinikum Nordfriesland is a major training provider in the region with more than 200 apprenticeships. Surgical technicians (OTA), medical assistants (MFA), building cleaners and health care professionals are trained in the facilities of the clinic. The hospital also has two vocational schools at the Husum site for the training of health and nursing staff and physiotherapists.

The clinic is an academic teaching hospital of the University of Hamburg and is therefore involved in the training of medical students.

The clinic is also involved in the training of midwives: together with the University of Lübeck, a dual bachelor's degree in “Midwifery Studies” is offered.

In the clinic's health academy, numerous advanced training courses are held for employees in the healthcare sector.
