About this picture

The Husum district was a district in the Prussian province of Schleswig-Holstein or Schleswig-Holstein from 1867 to 1970 . The county seat was Husum . As a result of the district reform of 1970, the Husum district was combined with the Eiderstedt and Südtondern districts to form the new North Friesland district with the district administration in Husum. The district of North Friesland is the legal successor to the district of Husum.

geography

location

The district belonged to the Schleswig region and was located on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein.

Neighboring areas

In early 1970 the district bordered clockwise in the north, beginning with the districts of Südtondern , Flensburg-Land , Schleswig and Eiderstedt . In the west it bordered the North Sea .

history

The district of Husum was created in 1867 when the province of Schleswig-Holstein was founded “from the city of Husum; the offices of Husum and Bredstedt with the town of Bredstedt and the enclavated aristocratic estates and Köögen, as well as from the islands of Nordstrand and Pellworm and all of Halligen ” . The areas he had before the German-Danish War included the Nordergoesharde as well as the Südergoesharde of the historical offices and Harden in Schleswig .

When the administrative districts were formed in 1889, the district consisted of the district town of Husum and the Flecken Bredstedt , as well as 25 municipalities and three manor districts, which were distributed among the 13 administrative districts as follows:

Bordelum district

Breklum district

District of Drelsdorf

Hattstedt district

Joldelund district

Langenhorn district

Mildstedt district

North Beach District

Ostfeld district

Pellworm district

District of Schwabstedt

District of Schwesing

District Viöl

The manor districts were dissolved in 1927/28 and added to the neighboring communities. In order to save costs, the Prussian government merged the district in 1932 with the neighboring district of Eiderstedt to form the district of Husum-Eiderstedt . This measure, as well as the amalgamation of the districts of Norder- and Süderdithmarschen, was reversed in the following year.

The parish land communities in the Husum district were dissolved in 1934. Independent communities were formed from their village communities, some of which were merged into larger communities in the same year. In 1945 the district comprised two cities and 65 other communities.

The areas of the administrative districts did not change until the dissolution of the district in 1970. However, there were some land gains on the coast and the Reußenköge community left the Bordelum district in 1929 and became vacant. The district of Mildstedt also lost a village in 1929 and two communities in 1938, all of which were incorporated into Husum. In 1941 the municipalities of Nordmarsch and Oland merged with Langeneß in the district of Langeneß. In 1948 the districts were dissolved and offices were formed from the areas. The offices retained their name except for Bohmstedt (formerly the Drelsdorf district) and Wester-Ohrstedt (formerly Schwesing district).

April 1, 1970 - So a few weeks before the dissolution of the group - were the offices Bredstedt-Land from office Bohmstedt , Breklum and Joldelund , Upper Arlau (1978 renamed Office Viöl) from office Viöl and Wester-Ohrstedt and Treene from formed the offices of Mildstedt , Ostenfeld and Schwabstedt . On the same date, the Stollberg Office was to be formed from the municipalities of the Langenhorn and Bordelum and Reußenköge offices. Both the municipalities of the Langenhorn office and Reußenköge sued against this. Reußenköge remained vacant and the Langenhorn office was finally dissolved on January 1, 1972.

On April 26, 1970, the district was dissolved. Its communities together with the communities in the districts of Eiderstedt and Südtondern formed the district of North Friesland.
