The Pellworm office is an office in the district of North Friesland in Schleswig-Holstein . The official business is carried out by the city of Husum as part of an administrative community .

Official municipalities

The Pellworm office consists of the four municipalities Gröde (10 inhabitants), Hooge (103 inhabitants), Langeneß (138 inhabitants) and Pellworm (1163 inhabitants). (Residents on December 31, 2018)

geography

The area of the office includes the island Pellworm and the Halligen Gröde , Habel , Hooge , Langeneß , Norderoog , Oland , Süderoog and Südfall . It is thus shaped by the Wadden Sea and partly belongs to the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park .

history

In 1889 the Pellworm district was formed from the four above-mentioned communities and the communities Nordmarsch and Oland in the district of Husum .

In 1941, Nordmarsch and Oland were incorporated into Langeness. The district was dissolved in 1948 and the four communities formed the Pellworm office from then on.

When the Husum district was dissolved in 1970, the municipalities of the Pellworm office also became part of the newly formed district of North Friesland .

In the course of the reform of the administrative structure in Schleswig-Holstein in 2008, the office entered into an administrative partnership with the city of Husum. With effect from the end of 2017, this contract was unilaterally terminated by the city of Husum, but the termination was withdrawn with effect from September 30, 2019.

With effect from October 1, 2011, the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of the Interior, after hearing the municipalities involved , decreed the relocation of the official headquarters to Husum.

politics

Head of office

From 1990 to 2005 Jürgen Feddersen was mayor of the Pellworm municipality and head of the Pellworm office. Since 2000 he was also a member of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament . He was followed in both offices from 2005 to 2013 by Klaus Jensen (CDU). After Jensen won a direct mandate in the state electoral district of North Friesland-South in the state elections in 2012 , Matthias Piepgras (SPD), Mayor of Hallig Hooge, was elected mayor for the 2013-2018 election period. From 2018 to 2020, Norbert Nieszery , former parliamentary group leader of the SPD in the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , was again the mayor of Pellworm as head of the office.

coat of arms

Blazon : "In silver, a red church tower ruin accompanied by a red moon and a red star over blue-silver waves in the base of the shield limited by a green bar."

economy

Agriculture is of particular importance . Tourism also plays a role.

traffic

Pellworm and most of the Halligen can only be reached by boat. The Neue Pellwormer Dampfschiffahrtsgesellschaft (NPDG) operates regular ferry connections between Nordstrand and Pellworm and the Wyker Dampfschiffs-Reederei (WDR) between Schlüttsiel , Langeneß, Hooge and Wittdün on Amrum . Langeneß and Oland are also connected to the mainland by a dam on which a lorry runs. In addition to coastal protection, this railway also serves the transport needs of the Hallig residents. Beyond that, however, it is not a form of public transport.
