history

In 1889 the district of Schwesing was formed from the parish of Schwesing and parts of the Gottorf forest district (Immenstedt and Ohlingslust). The parish state community of Schwesing consisted of the six villages of Ahrenviöl, Hochviöl, Immenstedt, Oster-Ohrstedt, Schwesing and Wester-Ohrstedt. After the forest estate district was dissolved, Ohlingslust came to the village of Wester-Ohrstedt and the Immenstedt forest to the village of the same name.

In 1934 the parish rural community was dissolved and the village communities formed independent rural communities. In the same year was Ahrenviölfeld spun off as a separate municipality from Ahrenviöl.

In 1948 the district was dissolved and the seven municipalities formed the parish land municipality of Wester-Ohrstedt , which changed the name to Amt Wester-Ohrstedt that same year . With the formation of the district of North Friesland, the office was dissolved in 1970 and the municipalities formed the Upper Arlau Office with the municipalities of the Office Viöl , which in 1978 changed its name to Office Viöl. Hochviöl was incorporated into Viöl in 1976.
