Henning von Rumohr

Henning Karl Christian von Rumohr (born October 28, 1904 in Plön ; † January 27, 1984 at Gut Drält near Kappeln ) was a German administrative officer, manor owner and writer.

Life

He was the son of the Prussian captain d. R. Hermann Otto Wilhelm von Rumohr (1866–1926) landlord on Drält and from 1902 on the Fideikommiss Groß Steinrade. Henning von Rumohr studied law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . In 1923 he became a member of the Corps Saxonia Göttingen . After completing the degree, the doctorate to Dr. jur. and the clerkship he entered the civil service. In 1936 he was promoted to the government council and transferred to the Reich Ministry of Aviation.

In 1939 von Rumohr became district administrator for the district of Eiderstedt . During 1940 he was also a deputy district administrator for the Husum district . In 1941 he was drafted into the military and initially served on the Eastern Front. In 1943 he became a war administrator in Athens and from 1944 headed the military administration for Greece. He ended up in British captivity, which he spent in Egypt until 1948.

After his release from captivity, von Rumohr lived on his estate Drülle in the Flensburg district. He was a member of the ongoing deputation of the Schleswig-Holstein prelates and knights , provost of the aristocratic St. Johannis monastery in front of Schleswig , head of the water and soil associations and road associations. As a writer, he wrote numerous books on architectural monuments in Schleswig-Holstein. He was married to Waltraut Freiin von Koenneritz.
