Nik Raivio

Nikolas Thomas Raivio (born February 6, 1986 in Antwerp ) is an American basketball player who also has German citizenship.

career

Raivio, whose father Rick and his older brother Derek were professional basketball players, was born in Antwerp,  Belgium. His father was a professional basketball player in Belgium at the time. From 1992 the family lived in the United States again. After his time at Mountain View High School in Vancouver , Washington state , Nik Raivio played in the 2005/06 season at Northeastern Junior College in Colorado . The 2006/07 game year, in which the 1.93-meter-tall builder and winger was part of the squad of Santa Rosa Junior College in California , went without match practice for him due to a broken collarbone . Between 2007 and 2010 Raivio was  on the field for the team at the University of Portland and was used in a total of 79 games. He posted averages of 14.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.2 basket assists per match.

Raivio began his professional career in the 2010/11 season with the Belgian first division club Liège Basket. During his first year as a professional basketball player, Raivio returned to the United States and played for the New Mexico Thunderbirds in the NBA D-League until the end of the season  .

From 2011 onwards he worked at clubs in European leagues, including Hungary, Greece, Sweden and Italy. His time with the Hungarian first division club Kaposvari KK was particularly successful, for whom he was on the field both in the 2011/12 season and in the 2014/15 season. In 2011/12 Raivio was one of the best scorer in the Hungarian league with a point average of 21.1. In the 2014/15 season he was also very attacking with 19.1 points per match and was named Player of the Year in Nemzeti Bajnokság I / A, Hungary's top division, by the internet service eurobasket.com. Also in his three years with the Italian second division club Legnano Basket, Raivio triumphed with offensive power. He achieved the best points of his time in Italy during the 2017/18 season with 18.5 per game.

At the end of June 2018, Raivio was signed by the German Bundesliga club Medi Bayreuth  . He made 30 Bundesliga appearances in the 2018/19 season (4.8 points / game), and during the 2019 summer break he moved to the Italian second division Urania Milan.
