The Klinikverbund Südwest GmbH , based in Sindelfingen , Baden-Württemberg, is a municipal health concern.

The company was founded on January 1, 2006 and achieved sales of 228.41 million euros in the 2009 financial year with an average of 2,803 employees.

history

The Southwest Clinic Association was created in 2006 by merging the district hospitals in Böblingen , Herrenberg and Leonberg and the geriatric rehabilitation clinic in the district of Böblingen, the two district hospitals in Calw and Nagold in the district of Calw, the Sindelfingen municipal hospital and the outpatient therapy center in Sindelfingen belonging to the municipal hospital.

In 2007, the association made a profit of 104,000 euros. The long-term preservation of all clinic locations is a politically prescribed goal. This enables around 540,000 people to receive medical care close to their home. All houses are medically and staffed so that they can at least provide emergency measures and measures in the most important treatment areas. Everywhere there is an emergency room with 24-hour service and departments for internal medicine , surgery , intensive care , radiology , anesthesia and laboratory medicine .

At the same time, individual medical focus centers for special diseases were set up across the locations. In these, doctors from different areas work together in an interdisciplinary manner, from diagnosis and case discussions to the definition of the treatment concept. Examples of this are the certified intestinal centers in Böblingen and Nagold , the vascular center in Leonberg , the wound centers in Herrenberg and Leonberg, the heart centers in Calw and Sindelfingen or the cancer center at the Sindelfingen-Böblingen Clinic. In principle, however, patients can first visit any hospital and, if necessary, are transferred from there to the appropriate center in the hospital network.

Certification and awards

The Klinikverbund Südwest participates in numerous quality assurance projects. The bowel centers in Böblingen and Nagold are certified by the German Cancer Society. Previously there were only four such centers in Baden-Württemberg. The Leonberg Hospital is also striving for this seal of quality. In the certified centers, a doctor no longer alone works out the treatment concept for colon cancer; Instead, it has to be decided in interdisciplinary meetings. Doctors in private practice are also involved. The breast center of the clinic for gynecology in Böblingen and the district hospital in Calw are also certified. The district hospital in Calw is one of the 30 maternity clinics in Germany (as of 7/2008) that have been awarded the “Baby-friendly Hospital” certificate by the WHO / UNICEF.

For quality assurance purposes, the Südwest Clinic Association also has an external, independent research group conduct an annual patient survey and compare the values with 136 (2007) other hospitals. The hospitals received good to very good scores, especially for medical and nursing care and pain relief.
