The Bœuil Monastery (Le Beuil, Bulium) is a former Cistercian abbey in the French commune of Veyrac in the Haute-Vienne department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region . The monastery was about 18 km northwest of Limoges .
history
The monastery was founded by Ranulphe de Nieul, the Archdeacon of Limoges, 1117-1123 after the Benedictine rule of the monastery Dalon established by it in 1162 filiation of Branch Pontigny joined the Cistercian order. In 1168 the monastery St-Léonard-des-Chaumes was subordinated to the monastery as a daughter monastery. The monastery was dissolved during the French Revolution .
Buildings and plant
Apart from the capitals in the village of Les Quatre-Vents, almost nothing has been preserved from the complex. In the village of la Grange-de-Boeil, not far from the monastery, there is still a holy water container.
