The Grandselve Abbey (lat. Monasterium Beatae Mariae de Grandi Silva ) was 1955-1968 a monastery of Trappist and since 1968, a monastery of Trappist nuns in obout in Nkolmetet in Cameroon . The community has been dispersed since 2013.

history

The French Trappist monastery Aiguebelle founded the daughter monastery Notre-Dame d'Afrique (Our Lady of Africa) in Minlaba in Mengueme in Cameroon in 1951 , which was moved to Obout in Nkolmetet in 1955 . There it changed name in 1957 and was called Notre-Dame de Grandselve (after the Grandselve monastery, which was dissolved by the French Revolution ). When the Trappists moved to Koutaba in the Noun district in 1968 and there also adopted the new name Notre-Dame de Koutaba , Trappist women from the French monastery of La Coudre from Laval followed them in Obout and also adopted the name of the monastery. In 1995 the monastery was elevated to a priory . In 2013 the community was dispersed, but this officially continues under Prioress Regina Nebo.
