The French Trappist monastery Aiguebelle founded the daughter monastery Notre-Dame d'Afrique (Our Lady of Africa) in Minlaba in Mengueme in Cameroon in 1951 , which was moved to Obout in Nkolmetet in 1955 . There it changed name in 1957 and was called Notre-Dame de Grandselve (after the Grandselve monastery, which was dissolved by the French Revolution ). In 1968 the Trappists moved on to Koutaba in the Noun district and founded the Notre-Dame de Koutaba monastery there , which was elevated to a priory in 1988 . In Obout they were followed by Trappist women from the French monastery of La Coudre from Laval and also adopted the name of Notre-Dame de Grandselve .
