The Gudsberga Monastery (Mons domini) is a former Cistercian abbey in Sweden . It was in Husby parish in Hedemora parish in Dalarna .

history

The monastery was founded in 1486 as a subsidiary of Alvastra Monastery from the filiation of the Clairvaux Monastery Primary Abbey by Knight Ingel Jönsson and his wife Birgitta Sonedotter. The monastery was quite wealthy due to its hut ownership and shares in mines. In 1527 the monastery was withdrawn from the crown.

Buildings and plant

The monastery complex is a partially excavated ruin, which is located in the ecomuseum of the monastery in Hedemora. The three-aisled stone monastery church had a polygonal choir and measured 21 by 24 m. The convent buildings were probably not made of stone.
