Michail Wassiljewitsch Kotschkin (Russian Михаил Васильевич Кочкин ; born October 7, 1979 in Kamchatka ) is a Russian biathlete .

Michail Kotschkin is a sports soldier and student and lives in St. Petersburg . He has been practicing biathlon since 1990. His first major appearance on the international stage was at the 1999 Junior World Championships in Pokljuka . He won bronze here in the sprint and even silver in the pursuit. The following year he won bronze with Pawel Mouslimow with the relay at the European Championships in Zakopane .

2000 Kotschkin made his debut in Östersund in the World Cup. In the sprint he even won his first World Cup points in 24th place. At the beginning of the following season 2000/01 he came in Pokljuka with the Russian relay as third for the first time on the podium. The highlight was the first and so far last participation in the biathlon world championships . In Pokljuka he was 29th in the individual. At the beginning of the 2001/02 season he reached in Hochfilzen with an eighth place in the pursuit for the first time a placement in the top 10. This season should be Kochkin's best. In Antholz he achieved his best overall World Cup placement as third in the individual. He won World Cup points in eleven races and finished the season 26th of the overall World Cup. Despite the good season, it was not enough to qualify for the Olympic Games of the year.

In the following years there were mostly no successes. In the summer of 2002 Kochkin started at the Summer Biathlon World Championships in Khanty-Mansiysk , but without being able to place well. In 2004 he had to start in the European Cup for the first time and was only allowed to compete in the World Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk again at the end of the 2006/07 season, where he immediately won points in both the sprint and the pursuit.
