Herz Jesu Monastery (Augsburg)

The Herz Jesu monastery was a monastery of the English Misses in Augsburg in Bavaria in the diocese of Augsburg . It was founded in 1662 by Mary Points of Acton Ireton at the suggestion of Elector Ferdinand Maria . The dissolution took place in 1803 in the course of secularization . In 1811 a secondary school for daughters was set up, and in 1816 the monastery was restored. In 1828 new buildings for school and boarding school were built. Completely destroyed by bombs in 1944, the old monastery complex was replaced by a new building after the war.

Today the Maria-Ward-Gymnasium Augsburg and the Maria-Ward-Realschule Augsburg are located here .
