The Kloster Ingenbohl is the parent of Charity of holy cross (Ingenbohl sisters) in Ingenbohl , on a hillside above wells in Schwyz in the vicinity of Lake Lucerne .

history

Father Theodosius Florentini founded the Community of the Sisters of the Holy Cross (Menzinger Sisters) in 1844 . In 1855 he acquired the Nigg'schen Hof, a farm on a hill in Ingenbohl. The farm developed into the mother house of a new branch of the monastery. In 1856, by an episcopal decision, the Menzing sisters and the Ingenbohl sisters were declared two independent institutes.

Architecture and equipment

The monastery church dates from 1974. Light falls through the colored roof windows. In addition to many other sacred art treasures, the Ingenbohl Monastery also houses art by two Ingenbohl sisters. Sr. M. Raphaela Burgi designed the colored glass windows.

Place of pilgrimage

On pilgrimage day, the 16th of each month, there is a pilgrimage service in the monastery church and, in the afternoon, a common pilgrimage prayer in the crypt . In the evening the sisters and visitors pray Compline .
