The La Boulaye monastery was an unfortunate attempt to found a Cistercian monastery in France .
location
The monastery was located in the municipality of Condé-sur-Vire in the Manche department in the Normandy region , around 13 km south of Saint-Lô .
history
The Aulnay Monastery from the Savigny Monastery congregation acquired properties in the La Boulaye district in 1134. First a chapel was built, traces of which can still be seen. Around 1170 there was an unsuccessful attempt (Peugniez: essai malheureux) to found a Cistercian abbey.
