Möningerberg Monastery

The monastery Möningerberg is a former convent of the Franciscan Observant in Freystadt in Bavaria in the diocese of Eichstaett .

history

The monastery consecrated to Our Lady was founded in 1452 by St. Johannes Capistran and Count Palatine Otto I founded, first a hospice, later it was a convent in the Strasbourg (Upper German) Franciscan Province. It was dissolved in 1556 during the Reformation . Only traces of the monastery are left. A chicken farm was built on the former monastery grounds. Today there is a chapel of the 14 helpers on the mountain.
