Val d'Espoir Monastery
Val d'Espoir Monastery was a Canadian Trappist monastery from 1931 to 1938 in Percé , Le Rocher-Percé , Gaspésie – Îles-de-la-Madeleine , Québec , Diocese of Gaspé .
history
In 1928 Belgian and Dutch Trappists came to Val d'Espoir and founded the Sainte-Marie monastery with a farm and agricultural school ( Ferme-École Ste-Marie ). The Great Depression forced them to give up the place in 1936, which passed to the Viatorists in 1938 .
