history
The monastery is said to have emerged from a pilgrims' hostel in 1137; it was probably at the instigation of King Alfonso VII of Castile in 1152 that it placed itself under the Clairvaux Primary Abbey of the Cistercian Order. King Ferdinand III was born in the monastery in 1199 . born of Castile . During the abolition of the monastery under the government of Juan Álvarez Mendizábal , the monastery was dissolved in 1835. Then it disappeared. A monument commemorates the monastery.
