A cloth-guild palace

The Klothilden palaces ( Hungarian Klotild paloták ) are twin buildings that serve as both residential and commercial buildings. They stand as a symbolic entrance gate at the Elisabeth Bridge in the direction of Pest in Budapest . The ensemble was named after Clotilde von Sachsen-Coburg and Gotha .

The buildings were built from 1899 to 1902 according to plans by the architects Kálmán Giergl and Flóris Korb in the style of historicism . Originally there were arcades at ground level , where shops and restaurants can now be found. In 1977 the group of houses was placed under monument protection.
