Knausholz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Knausholz is a formerly independent part of the Elm district of the Schwalbach (Saar) community .

geography

Knausholz is located 3 km southeast of the municipality capital Schwalbach in the Sprenger Bachtal , a side valley of the Saar valley.

history

It was first mentioned in a document together with Schwalbach in 1308. Because of the water-rich Sprengerbach, several mills have been built in Knausholz over the course of history. In 1424 the "rule on the Bach", and with it Knausholz, passed from Wilhelm von Sierk to the Prince of Nassau-Saarbrücken and thus belonged to the Völklingen court. During the Thirty Years' War the entire Bachtal was depopulated. The resettlement took place hesitantly from 1656. From 1714 to 1723 there was a dispute with the neighboring town of Schwalbach.

Due to the population development, Knausholz left the Schwalbach School Association in 1886 and got its own school. In 1898 Knausholz also left the Catholic parish of Schwalbach and was repared to the new Derlen parish.

In 1938, the four villages in the Sprengerbachtal, Knausholz, Derlen, Elm and Sprengen were combined into one community. The new community was named Elm / Saar. In the course of the territorial and administrative reform in Saarland 1974 , the municipalities of Elm / Saar, Bous / Saar , Ensdorf and Hülzweiler came to the municipality of Schwalbach / Saar on January 1, 1974 . After Bous and Ensdorf left on January 1, 1982, this parish received its present form.
