coat of arms
Hülzweiler was created as a forest clearing settlement. This is symbolized by the oak branch in the coat of arms. The "Abtskrümme" stands for the bond with the Abbey Fraulautern . The diminished lion's head stands for the former sovereignty of the Counts of Nassau-Saarbrücken until 1581. The three double crosses show the subsequent affiliation to the Duchy of Lorraine .

The four buildings are listed as individual monuments in the Saarland's list of monuments.
"Helzwella Kirw"
Hülzweiler is known far beyond the borders of the Saarland for the “Helzwella Kirw”, its traditional Laurentius fair. The fair goes back to the year 1513, when the abbess von Fraulautern had the farmers of Schwarzenholz Reiser, Bänke and Maien brought to Hülzweiler. The "Helzwella Kirw" always takes place around the second Sunday in August and usually lasts from Saturday to Wednesday.

Hülzweiler became economically well-known through Germany's first certificate course for nanotechnology .
