Karl-Heinz Scherhag

Karl-Heinz Scherhag (born May 5, 1936 in Koblenz ; † February 14, 2015 there ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and a member of the Bundestag .

Life

Scherhag completed vocational training as a motor vehicle mechanic, after which he graduated as a master motor vehicle mechanic. In 1960 he founded the Scherhag car dealership. He was head master in the Middle Rhine Motor Vehicle Guild and a member of the state and federal association. He was a member of the World Association for the Motor Vehicle Industry (IOMTR) and a board member of the Interregional Council of the Chamber of Crafts in Saar-Lor-Lux. Scherhag was President of the Koblenz Chamber of Crafts from 1988 to 2009, of which he has been Honorary President since then. He was also a member of the Presidium of the Central Association of German Crafts.

As a member of the executive board of the Central Association of German Crafts, he was deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Signal Unfallversicherung eG and member of the supervisory board of Signal Iduna Holding AG from 1989 to 2010 .

politics

Scherhag joined the CDU in 1960. For sixteen years he was a member of the city council of Koblenz and ten years deputy parliamentary group chairman and treasurer of the parliamentary group. He was also active in many committees, including the main and finance committee and the building and economic development committee of the city of Koblenz. In addition, he was a member of the district executive committee of the city of Koblenz in the 1980s. In 1994 he was elected to the German Bundestag, to which he belonged until the end of the fourteenth legislative period in 2002.

honors and awards

For his services he was awarded the Golden Pin of the Federal Motor Vehicle Association, the Golden Pin of the Central Association of German Crafts and the title of Honorary Master. Scherhag was also awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon and the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class and the Great Federal Cross of Merit and the Ring of Honor from the Koblenz Chamber of Crafts.
