Location of Güdingen in Saarland |
Güdingen is a district of the Saarland capital Saarbrücken .
geography
Güdingen is located around 4 km south-southeast of Saarbrücken city center on the Saar . The town center is on the right bank, a larger industrial area like a racetrack on the left bank. In the southwest, the place borders on the French region of Lorraine and to the southeast on the district of Bübingen . To the east lies Fechingen , northeast Brebach and northwest Santa Arnual .
history
Finds from 1962 show that people already lived in the Güdingen area during the Bandkeramischen Kultur . Finds have been reported from both the Iron Age and the Bronze Age . The first traces of settlement can be traced around 1000 BC. There are references to a villa rustica as well as coins and graves from Roman times . On January 7th, 1259, "Henrich Tichelate" is documented as a witness during the sale of a meadow near today's Deutschmühlenweiher to the gentlemen at the Deutschhaus. In 1412 Grand Duke Lasse is the owner of the lands around Güdingen. This year it was based on the 750th anniversary celebration in 2009.
On January 1, 1974, the previously independent community of Güdingen was incorporated into the state capital of Saarbrücken.
Attractions
In addition to the ensemble around the Protestant church from 1778 with a bell tower from the 14th century , several individual buildings are listed . To the west of the village is the Saar river with the Güdingen barrage. The lock and weir were built in 1863 and, together with a lock keeper's house built in 1936, are a listed building.
Economy and Infrastructure
traffic
Road traffic
North of the district is the Saarbrücken motorway triangle , where the federal motorway 6 meets the Saarbrücken city motorway . Güdingen has an exit at the latter. Bundesstrasse 51 runs west of the town along the Saar .
Local public transport
Güdingen is connected to the local traffic in Saarbrücken .
The double-track stop with a central platform on the Saarbrücken – Sarreguemines railway line is located southeast of the town center. Since the fall of 1997, the stop has been served by line 1 of the Saarbahn every 15 minutes during the day (otherwise every 30 minutes). There are connections to the city center of Saarbrücken as well as to Riegelsberg , Heusweiler Markt and Lebach . Every 30 or 60 minutes, the tram runs in the opposite direction via Kleinblittersdorf to Sarreguemines station, not far from the German-French border. The historic reception building from the 19th century was demolished in 2005. Local politicians have been calling for the extension of the stop to be suitable for disabled people and families for decades without any concrete plans.
The place is also accessed by bus routes 126 and 131.
