Herrensohr is a district of Saarbrücken within the district of Dudweiler (see list of districts of Saarbrücken ). Immediate neighboring towns are Dudweiler and Jägersfreude .

Herrensohr, popularly known as "Kaltnaggisch" because of the bare cleared area on which it was built, was built as a miners' colony on a former forest area from 1856 onwards. The Knappschaftsverein Saarbrücken had previously acquired three forest districts with the names "Herresohr" (sic!), "Bärendick" and "Felsenborn", which were registered under the name "Herresohr" (sic!) In the Dudweiler land register for this purpose . The name Herrensohr, originally Herresohr, means "gentlemen's hunt" because the forest was used by the Counts of Saarbrücken for hunting purposes . An input from the residents that their place should be named after one of the other two forest districts - Felsenborn or Bärendick - was rejected by the responsible authority.

On April 30, 2014 the place had 2,113 inhabitants.

Until 1973 Herrensohr belonged to the city of Dudweiler , during the Saarland territorial reform of 1974 Dudweiler was incorporated into Saarbrücken .
