Rabbit Mountain (Saarbrücken)

The Rabbit Mountain (formerly also called Rebenberg and Stromberg ) is by far the second largest district within the St. Johann district of Saarbrücken with 228 hectares .
The forest share is 8.5%. The population is 1675 (as of January 31, 2018). The population decline over the past 16 years was over 15%, well above the urban average. At 10.1%, unemployment is significantly higher than in the other districts of this district (6.6%) and also higher than that of the city as a whole (9.5%).
On the Rabbit Mountain in Saarbrücken , 265.4 m high, you can find the little-known remains of a princely pleasure palace.
The palace was built in 1722 under Count Carl Ludwig von Nassau-Saarbrücken and destroyed during the French Revolution in 1793. In addition to a kind of rock grotto, there are also foundations of a building.
There used to be two fountains on the Rabbit Mountain: the Strummersbrunnen and the Holzbrunnen . These were tributaries of the Kieselbach . The wells have now been drained.
