The Evangelical Church Güdingen is a sacred building of the parish of Obere Saar in the Saarbrücken district of Güdingen . The parish is assigned to the Saar-West parish of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland . In the list of monuments of the Saarland, the church is a single monument listed.

history

The first verifiable sacred building on the site of today's church was a chapel built around the year 800 . A Gothic bell tower was added to this around 1350 . In 1615 the ship was rebuilt according to plans by the architect Jost Hoer. The Catholic high altar remained in use in the new church until 1619 or 1621. A Simultaneum had existed since 1694, i.e. shared use of the church space by Protestant and Catholic Christians. The simultaneum ended in 1896.

In 1778 the church was destroyed by fire. The reconstruction as a baroque hall , for the design of which architect Johann Jakob Lautemann (Saarbrücken) was responsible, was completed in 1779. The Gothic church tower was left standing and was restored as part of the construction work .

In the years 2003 to 2004, the church was completely renovated in accordance with the requirements of historical monuments.

Furnishing

The church's furnishings include leaded glass windows by the Hungarian-German architect and church window painter György Lehoczky (Saarbrücken) from 1963 to 1964.

Other appliances are the baptismal font from Vosges - sandstone and a very old wooden offering box , which is held together by metal fittings. It is also worth mentioning four Gothic vaulted ribs in one corner of the tower room. They meet in a small circular disk with an eight-petalled rose.

organ

On the gallery there is an organ from Willi Peter Orgelbau ( Cologne ) in a historic case from 1790, which probably originates from an organ builder named Bruch from today's Saarbrücken district of St. Johann. The slider chests -instrument has 16 registers , spread over two manuals and pedal . The playing and stop action is mechanical. The disposition is as follows:
