Knights of Xentar ( Dragon Knight III , Jap. ドラゴンナイトIII , Doragon naito III ) is an eroge - RPG of eleven . In 1994 the successor Dragon Knight 4 appeared .
action
The hero Desmond ( タ ケ ル , Takeru ) had his legendary armor, sword and money stolen by bandits. In his search for them, he is repeatedly attacked by demons. In the course of this, his companion Rolf ( バ ー ン , Bān ) from Dragon Knight II and the sorceress Luna ( ル ナ ) from Dragon Knight I join him. Everyone dreamed of a woman who later turns out to be the goddess of light Althea ( メ シ ア , Meshia ). This has made an agreement with the god of darkness Deimos ( デ ィ ー ド , Dīdo ) that they let their children decide their constant struggle. Desmond is the son of Althea and his friend Arstein ( ア ル ス テ ィ ー ン , Arusutīn ) that of Deimos. Since Arstein does not want to kill his friend Desmond, he brings him to kill him. Since Deimos does not stick to the agreement, the group ends up fighting against it.
Implementations
computer game
The game was released December 14, 1991 for the PC-98 and in the same year for the X68000 . On July 22, 1994, an adaptation for the PC Engine Super CD-ROM² from NEC Avenue was released .
In 1995, Megatech Software published an English version for MS-DOS under the name Knights of Xentar . The censored NR-13 version, in which the girls' intimate areas were covered and the dialogues defused, could be changed to an NR-18 version with a patch. During the implementation, the names of the people were changed and the dialogues were rewritten, e.g. B. through US pop cultural allusions, jokes and the direct addressing of the player by the US script writer.
The US version appeared in the same year with German localization and German-language synchronization in the CD version.
The German CD version was published by Bestseller Games and is considered an outspoken rarity, as here even the most insignificant NPC in the game was given its own audio voice, which gives the game a certain audio book character. In addition, the NR-18 patch, which was actually reserved for the English diskette version, also works with this.
The characters were drawn revealing, but not quite as exaggerated and lolita-like, as later in many other eroge RPGs.
The pure role-play aspects such as trading, inventory management and advancement of experience etc. were, however, already below average for the conditions at the time and could hardly compete with other RPGs of that time.
According to the US version NR-13 and NR-18, the game was also released in a USK-12 and a USK-16 version.
Anime
In 1991 an anime was released as an original video animation for the game, directed by Jun Fukada . The film was produced by Studio Wombat and the artistic directors were Akemi Kobayashi and Koichi Usami. The OVA has been translated into English.
