Tell Knittelfelder

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under the title Knittelfelder Tell - in two volumes so far (2009) - a collection of articles from oral history on the history of the Knittelfeld district in central Styria has been published.

Volumes

The two volumes are grandmother, how was that back then? , which deal with the World War and the interwar period of the First Republic from 1914 to 1938 in a small Austrian town, and as a grandfather had to go to war over Austria during the time of National Socialism and the Second War .

Emergence

The reports for the first publication came about in autumn 1987 as part of an oral history project in which 415 schoolchildren between the ages of 12 and 15 took part. They asked their ancestors in family circles about the period between the 1910s and the 30s. In 1988 these reports were published by the editor Gerhard Ebner, who compiled 80 reports with eleven contemporary photos. In 1993 the second volume appeared as a collection of over 100 reports with 57 contemporary photos covering the period from 1938 to 1945.
