Knoppers is a waffle bar filled with nougat and milk cream produced by August Storck KG . Knoppers has been on the market since 1983 and, in addition to Germany, is also available in neighboring European countries, Australia , Vietnam and occasionally in Russia . A waffle weighs 25 grams. The light blue and white packaging is typical. The name Knoppers was created from a play on words about the word "nibble" (nibble - knoppern - knoppers).

A Knoppers consists of five layers: a waffle, hazelnut cream, another waffle, milk cream and a waffle coated with cocoa-based vegetable fat icing.

The ingredients are: sugar , vegetable fat (palm, shea), wheat flour 12.3%, skimmed milk powder 11.5%, hazelnuts 9.1%, whole wheat flour 6.1%, cocoa, concentrated butter 2.6%, sweet whey powder , wheat starch , Emulsifier : soy lecithin , cream powder 0.2%, table salt , natural flavors . As a leavening agent is sodium carbonate used.

According to the package information, a Knoppers can also contain the allergens almonds, peanuts, other nuts and eggs.

Overall, the milk content of the filled wafers is approx. 10% (milk cream filling 30.4%, nougat cream filling 29.4%).

Knoppers nut bars

The Knoppers nut bar has been available since August 2017. The bar combines the ingredients of Knoppers with hazelnuts in caramel and a shell made of milk chocolate .

Since 2020 there are also two new variants with peanut and coconut .
