Kodomo no Omocha

Kodomo no Omocha ( Japaneseこ ど も の お も ち ゃ, children's toys ), also known under the short name Kodocha , is a completed manga series by the Japanese artist Miho Obana , which was also implemented as an anime series. It belongs to the Shōjo genre and has both funny and serious moments.

Sana Kurata is adopted by a famous writer and raised alone. As a five-year-old she appeared in the prestigious Komawari Theater and in numerous commercials. After all, she becomes a child star through the lead role in the children's series Kodomo no Omocha and receives offers for several films.

However, Sana is always angry with a boy named Akito Hayama , who goes to her elementary school class and incites all boys there to do nonsense, to bully the teachers and to annoy the girls. There is an argument between Akito and Sana. In the end, Sana is in control and a friendship develops between the two of them. But when Sana and Akito start middle school , Akito and Sana's girlfriend Fuuka suddenly become a couple. Meanwhile, Sana was shooting a movie in the mountains in which she played the lead role with Naozumi Kamura, also a young actor with a similar fate as Sana. Upon her return, Sana realizes her true feelings for Hayama.

When the two find each other after a chain of coincidences, Akito is attacked by a boy (Komori) with a knife and is close to death. He can be saved, but his right hand is permanently paralyzed. Akito's father, who has found a good doctor in America, plans to move to Los Angeles for several years with Akito and his sister Natsumi.

Manga

Kodomo no Omocha was published in Japan from 1994 to 1998 in individual chapters in the manga magazine Ribon of the Shueisha publishing house. These individual chapters were also summarized in a total of ten anthologies.

In German, the manga series was published in full from February 2003 to June 2004 by Egmont Manga and Anime (EMA).

Anime

Studio Gallop produced a 102-part anime series for the manga, which was broadcast from April 1996 to March 1998 on the Japanese television station TV Tokyo .

Awards

The manga won the 1998 Kodansha Manga Prize in the Shōjo category.
