Luggage theater
The Koffertheater is an amateur theater founded in 1984 in the Lichtburg cultural center in Wetter (Ruhr) .
The ensemble emerged from a theater group at the Wetter Realschule. After it was founded in October 1984, literary evenings were organized and cabaret programs were performed. The ensemble's first play in 1987 was “In Goethes Hand” by Martin Walser . The joint search with the independent cultural association Wetter and the musicians' initiative Wetter for a permanent venue led to the founding of the sponsoring association “Kulturzentrum Lichtburg e. V. ". After renovations in the former Lichtburg cinema , the cultural center of the same name was opened in 1992. Since then, the Koffertheater has had a permanent venue, has developed numerous of its own productions and does work for young talent. The courses for young people started in 2011 under the title YoungActorsClub under the direction of theater pedagogy by Ramona Köhler offer young people the opportunity to stage their own theater projects.
The repertoire of the stage ranges from classics, comedies and tabloids to children's theater , readings and live radio plays to comedy , cabaret and musicals . While one production per season used to be on the schedule, three productions per season are now performed in the genres of family, comedy and thriller. “The in-house productions offer music and theater well above the small-town league” and, according to WAZ, “keep setting highlights in the city's cultural life”.
Since 2011, the Koffertheater has been performing self-produced crime dinner comedies in the lake pavilion of Dortmund's Westfalenpark . The ensemble also gives guest performances at the Thealozzi cultural center in Bochum and the Hasper Hammer cultural stage in Hagen - Haspe .
The play Too early married , written by Klaus Mitschke for the Koffertheater, was performed in 2011 and included in the program of the Deutsches Theaterverlag .
