Kohlbach is a district of the town of Eversen, part of the Lower Saxon town of Bergen, in the district of Celle in the Lüneburg Heath .

Topography and history

The coal stream, which gave the district its name

Kohlenbach consists of a forester's house and a single farmstead located on the edge of the Eversen district in Garßener Holz. The small coal stream, a source stream of the Bruchbach , flows directly past it and gives the village its name. The coal stream itself probably got its name because of the dark water. Located on the "Alte Celler Heerstraße" , which came from Hanover and Celle and led past here in the direction of Lüneburg , there was originally a relaxation station with an inn. At the end of the 18th century, due to new transport connections and the construction of the railway, this route lost its importance as a trade route and the inn had to be given up. In a topographical map from the year 1777, the " Forester's house to the Colenbach " is mentioned for the first time. From that time on, Kohlenbach was the seat of the district forester and part of the royal chief forester Miele. Kohlbach belonged to the municipality of Eversen since 1929. On January 1st, 1973 Eversen was incorporated into the city of Bergen.

Today the European long-distance hiking trail E1 and the Heidschnuckenweg lead directly past the homestead.
