A coal chute (also a coal bucket or coal bag ) is a commodity that is used to carry coal or briquettes from the coal cellar to the stove or stove .

With the coal chute, you can pick up coal like a shovel from a pile of coal, then transport it and then pour the coal into the coal furnace with little dust. A coal chute usually has a sturdy handle and a firm handle at the bottom, which makes lifting and pouring easier.

Coal chutes are available in different sizes; for household use, a capacity of 3 to 7 kg is common.

Coal chutes are made from different materials, for example from unprocessed steel , zinc or iron sheet , from hammered and painted sheet metal , from brass or from enamelled materials. More modern chutes are also made of stainless steel or plastic.

In the time of coal heating , coal chutes were items of daily use, today they are rarely found.

Cultural reception

A coal bucket is used as a mount in Franz Kafka's fantastic story The Bucket Rider .
