history

The Kolkturm is already the third observation tower on the Kolkturmberg or in the immediate vicinity. In 1880 the Halle Kolkgesellschaft erected a wooden structure that was demolished in 1921 after being severely damaged by vandalism. In the 1930s, a second wooden tower was built on the nearby Black Mountain. After around 30 years of inactivity, it had to be demolished due to its dilapidation. At the place of the first tower, the construction that still exists today was finally built by the municipal Reichsbahn repair shop.
