The building at Kollwitzstraße 16 in Esslingen am Neckar is a historicist former factory owner's villa.

History and description

The villa was built in 1903 for the manufacturer Josef Leinen. In Hermann Falch, Leinen commissioned the same architect, who two years later was also to plan the Boley & Leinen factory building at 19 Schelztorstrasse . The villa has neo-Gothic elements and citations from the castle architecture. So it has a stepped gable , arched curtain windows and the legacy of the state oriel and battlements . At the south-east corner on the rear side of the villa there is a half-timbered veranda with colorful Art Nouveau windows with floral motifs. Structural elements such as an owl figure under the bay window and the tracery in the stepped gables as well as the carved door leaf, which is decorated with dragon heads, have been preserved in the original .
