Kolomani fountain

The Kolomanibrunnen is a fountain consecrated to Saint Koloman in the old town of Melk . He stands in the middle of the town hall square.

The fountain dates from 1687, when it was commissioned for the prelate court of Melk Abbey . Abbot Berthold Dietmayr donated it to the city in 1722 because it no longer fit into the baroque concept of the monastery complex. It was set up at its current location. In the middle of the fountain stands a statue of the saint on a pedestal with his typical attributes: a pilgrim's hat and a pilgrim's staff.

The fountain is listed as a cultural monument in the state monument list for Lower Austria ( list entry ).
