The Kolping Krankenkasse AG with headquarters in Basel is one of the health insurance specialist, operating throughout Switzerland Swiss insurance company of the Sympany Group. It provides benefits in accordance with the Compulsory Health Insurance Act .

The Kolping health insurance has its origins in the Swiss Kolping movement, which began in 1853 with the establishment of the Swiss Kolping Society . In 1885 the Catholic journeyman's association founded the Kolping Health Insurance Fund in the form of an association . This was recognized by the federal government as the association's own health insurance fund in 1917. In 1974 the health insurance fund opened for children and women, which made it a family fund. The introduction of the Health Insurance Act 1997 meant that the Kolping health insurance company had to break away from the Swiss Kolping Society. In 2002 the association was converted into a non-profit limited company, which joined the Sympany Foundation in 2016 as a subsidiary . Kolping Krankenkasse's own branding was dissolved at the end of 2017, and Kolping Krankenkasse has been fully integrated into the Sympany Group since 2018. Kolping Krankenkasse AG continues to be an independent legal entity and legal entity.
In 2017, criticism of the former head of the cash register became known. He had invited a senior employee of the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG), who was supposed to monitor the cash register, to VIP events and dinners.
