The Komaktorvik River is an approximately 47 km long tributary of the Labrador Sea in the north of Labrador in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador .

River course

The Komaktorvik River flows through the central part of the Torngat Mountains National Park . It rises on the provincial border with Québec at an altitude of 400  m . It flows mainly in an easterly direction through the Torngat Mountains . Between the river kilometers 38 and 23 are the Komaktorvik Lakes , two river widenings on the river. At river kilometer 15 the outflow of Chasm Lake joins the Komaktorvik River from the right. Finally, the Komaktorvik River flows into the head end of the Komaktorvik Fjord , an elongated bay on the east coast of Labrador. The catchment area covers 699 km².

Fish fauna

Arctic char occurs in the lower river system as far as Komaktorvik Lakes and Chasm Lake .
