Comet Harbor is a (possibly no longer in use or not official) name for a bay on the north coast of New Britain west of the Willaumez Peninsula in the West New Britain Province .
The bay belongs to the Bismarcksee and is about 10 km long and about 7 km wide. Offshore islands, such as Talangone Island, limit the sea-side access to the bay to a northern and an eastern driveway, both of which are lined with reefs and are therefore difficult to pass.
The bay was named after the outbreak of World War I and the invasion of the German colony of New Guinea by Australian forces as a refuge for the government yacht of the Komet colony . The ship, which was equipped with radio equipment, anchored there until 9 October 1914 by Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force Troops applied was.
