Committee of Ten

The Committee of Ten ( English Committee of Ten ) is an African economic body. It emerged from a meeting of African finance ministers and central bank governors held by the African Union , the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the African Development Bank in November 2008, ahead of the G20 summit .

tasks

The tasks of the committee are: an investigation of the economic recession in Africa in the course of the world economic crisis, the provision of information and catalogs of measures for the African heads of state, the strengthening of the African continent in the multilateral economic institutions as well as the provision of a political platform for the exchange of ideas for the African states .

A key objective of the committee is to present its own proposals and concepts on development-related issues in international bodies and thus to strengthen Africa's negotiating position. An example is the report: "Impact of the Crisis on African Economies - Sustaining Growth and Poverty Reduction: African Perspectives and Recommendation to the G-20", which the Committee of Ten submitted to the London G-20 summit .

Members

South Africa chairs the committee . Furthermore, Algeria , Botswana , Cameroon , Egypt , Kenya , Nigeria , Tanzania as well as the Central Bank of the West African States (BCEAO), the Central Bank of the Central African States, the African Development Bank (Secretariat of the Committee), the Commission of the African Union and the Economic Commission for Africa Members.
