Kommunistiska Partiet ( German : Communist Party , formerly KPML (r) ) is a Swedish, Communist party that split off in 1970 from the Kommunistiska förbundet marxist-leninisterna (German: Communist Association of Marxists-Leninists ). This association had split off from the Vänsterpartiet Kommunisterna , today's Vänsterpartiet , three years earlier .
The current party chairman Robert Mathiasson succeeded the longtime party leader Anders Carlsson in 2014. The newspaper close to the party is called Proletären and appears weekly. At the 14th Congress in Gothenburg on January 7, 2005, it was decided to change the name of Kommunistiska Partiet Marxist-Leninisterna (revolutionärerna) to its current name.
The party's motto is “class against class” and it sees itself as a revolutionary, communist party. It advocates the complete transformation of society and calls for the abolition of capitalism and, in its place, the creation of a workers-led, socialist society .
The party's youth organization is called Revolutionär Kommunistisk Ungdom ( German : Revolutionary Communist Youth ) and was founded in 1994.
