The community Grimnitz eV is a Christian-Evangelical community in the church district Barnim . It is based in Joachimsthal , in the Grimnitz district, and has been managing a house with a large yard and garden on the outskirts of the city of Joachimsthal about 70 km northeast of Berlin since 1998.

history

1997, a group founded young graduates of the former Berlin Seminary , where no pastor was able to offer a support group . They decided to move to the country together with a lecturer from the seminary and live according to the Bible. The idea of living in a “ Vita communis ” (in the sense of Dietrich Bonhoeffer ) attracted further interested parties. They included people shortly before or in retirement such as the former GDR civil rights activist and former director of studies at the Evangelical Academy in Mülheim , Hans-Jürgen Fischbeck , who has been a member of the community since 2002.

Initially, the community leased a manor and some smaller pieces of land in the former fishing village of Alt-Grimnitz near Joachimsthal . To this end, they founded the non-profit association “Community Grimnitz eV” to promote Christian life in the area of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg . The residents of the estate, the actual “local community”, initially consisted of five to seven permanent residents. Soon more active members, financial sponsors, permanent guests and helpers as well as those in need of support or interns joined the team. From this the temporary co-existence in the community developed.

In 2003 the members of the LechLecha community separated, which then founded their own community.

engagement

The community is committed to a community-oriented economy and initiates employment initiatives beyond gainful employment . She tries to integrate migrants , this is funded by the Interkultur Foundation Munich. She consciously lives according to ecological criteria with exemplary self-sufficiency and advocates fair sharing with marginalized people outside Europe, for example in Argentina , Colombia and Tanzania . The community conducts international youth encounters and evangelical adult and further education with seminars, exhibitions and excursions and offers the possibility of the " temporary monastery ". A guest house with 24 beds is available for this purpose.
