Building

The Said Scheliker Bei complex consists of a mosque , a medrese and a minaret . It was built by the merchant Said Scheliker Bei during the reign of Khan Alla Kuli (rule 1825 to 1842). Alla Kuli had the outer city of Dischan-Kala fortified with a city wall .

The complex's mosque has nine domes . The wooden pillars inside come from other buildings from the late 18th century. The medrese is two-story . The most striking part of the complex is the minaret. It has a height of more than 30 meters. It is crowned by an arch lantern . This has a stalactite-shaped cornice ( muqarnas ). The tower is part of an east-west axis, the so-called sun line, formed on five minarets, which also include Kalta Minor and the minaret of the Dschuma Mosque .
