Confrontational pedagogy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Confrontational pedagogy is the generic term for special action strategies in the professional handling of deviant and aggressive behavior by children and young people. It is used in particular in social work , school education or in prisons.

Violations of rules that disrupt socio-communicative group relationships or impair individual rights of freedom and the integrity of people will not be accepted. The triggering persons are confronted with these rule violations and their consequences as soon as possible. Forms of confrontational pedagogy are, for example, anti-aggressiveness training , coolness training or confrontational social training .

Basics

Confrontational pedagogy is based on 12 cornerstones.

  • Ultimate upbringing ratio as a last resort when acceptance and sensitivity are no longer enough
  • Interventionism to motivate the child to change.
  • Approach to the conspicuous who see compassion as a weakness
  • direct, confrontational, universal, setting limits
  • Police and judicial cooperative
  • Socially critical
  • Approach does not work confrontationally without the consent of the educator
  • crime and deficit specific
  • Approach uses self-motivation and external "pressure" from the motivation to change
  • Favoring the pedagogical type of relationship
  • Educational goal-oriented: Promotion of social behavior, morals and further development as well as the competence of those to be educated
