Singing

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kongesangen is Norway's royal anthem . The original text (Gud signe kongen vor), which has been revised several times, comes from Henrik Wergeland . The current version, as shown below, was written by Gustav Jensen , who wrote it for the coronation of King Håkon VII in 1906 . Jensen was inspired by the British royal and national anthem " God Save the Queen " and used the same melody.

1. Gud sign vår konge god!
Sign ham med kraft and mot
sign hjem og slott!
Lys for ham ved din Ånd,
knytt med din sterke hand
bright troskapsbånd
om folk and drott!

2. Høyt sverger Norges mann
hver i sitt kall, sin stand,
troskap sin drott.
Trofast in liv and død,
tapper in krig and nød,
alltid vårt Norge lød
gud and sin drott.

1. God bless our good king!
Bless him with strength and courage,
bless home and castle!
Light for him through your spirit,
tie with your strong hand
a sacred bond of loyalty
around people and king!

2. According to Norway's man, swear allegiance to his king
in his profession and status
.
Faithful in life and death,
brave in war and need,
Norway always devoted to
God and its King.
