Kongoussi is a city and a department encompassing the same area in the West African state of Burkina Faso , located in the Center-Nord region and capital of the province of Bam. The population of the main town, which is divided into seven sectors, and its 56 villages is 68,807 (2006 census).
In the vicinity of Kongoussi is the Bamsee , which is used mainly as a farmer to supply fish and is a tourist attraction. Original name of the city was Kondibito .
