Konoe Masaie

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Konoe Masaie ( Japanese 近衛 政 家 ; * 1444 ; † 1505 ), outdated: Konoye Masaie , was Kampaku (regent) for the Go-Tsuchimikado - tennō from 1479 to 1483 .

Life path

Konoe Masaie was the second son of the court architect Konoe Fusatsugu . His career at the imperial court began with the elevation to the following third court rank in 1463. The next year he was Gon-Chūnagon ( 権 中 納 言 ; extraordinary middle cabinet councilor). In 1475 he was appointed to the office of Naidaijin , and in the following year to the position of “Chancellor on the right” ( 右 大臣 , Udaijin ). Three years later and when he took office as "Chancellor of the Left" ( Sadaijin ), he was appointed kampaku in 1479 (until 1483), and was promoted to the following first rank. He thus continued the family tradition due to him as a birthright: both his father and son Konoe Hisamichi ( 近衛 尚 通 ) held this office. After the reign he held the Grand Chancellery ( Dajo-daijin ) from 1488–90 .

Works

His diary Gohōkōin Masaie-ki, from which his arrogance of class is clear, covers the period 1466-1505. For a description of the Buddhist ritual Sento Gohako , he used the back of the diary of his ancestor Inokuma Kampaku-ki (= Guchu-reki) on October 10, 1465 (Kanshō 6/9/20 ), which was probably only preserved for this reason. His financial accounting has also been preserved, which means that the circumstances of the reconstruction of the family residence that burned down in 1468 are reconstructed. What is striking is the construction of a luxurious heated bathhouse, which in 1489 was almost 2/3 as expensive as the rest of the complex. It is unclear whether he was actually involved with his son in 1500 in the writing of the famous eight poems Ōmi Hakkei ( 近 江 八景 ), which describe the beauty of the coast of Lake Biwa .
