Emperor Go-Tsuchimikado ( Japanese. 後土 御 門 天皇 ; * July 3, 1442 ; † October 21, 1500 ) was the 103rd Tennō of Japan (August 21, 1464– October 21, 1500). His proper name was Fusahito ( 成仁 ).

At the beginning of his reign, the Ōnin War began , a succession dispute in the ruling Shogun family Ashikaga , which also extended to Kyoto . In 1477 the capital was a mountain of rubble and both clans had not achieved a victory. Japan entered a long period of strife, the Warring States Period ( Sengoku-jidai ). The fighting made it difficult to continue the traditional life at Kyoto court. Emperor Go-Tsuchimikado wanted to resign five times during his reign.

When Go-Tsuchimikado died, the imperial court had such great financial problems that he had to keep the emperor's body at the court for more than 40 days because there was no money for the funeral ceremony.
