Konrad Riggenmann

Konrad Riggenmann (* 1952 in Pfaffenhofen an der Roth ) is a teacher who has written a number of theater pieces for young people, published books critical of the Church, and led court cases against the cross in classrooms .

Life

Konrad Riggenmann is the third of five children in a teaching family. As a child he was an acolyte and as a youth he held leadership positions for the Catholic rural youth . At the age of 21 he entered a seminary. He dropped out of theology studies after four semesters. In 1978 he left the church and in the same year became a teacher in elementary and secondary schools. He published a total of twelve youth theater pieces. In 2001 he did his doctorate at the University of Augsburg on " John Dewey's pedagogy using the example of his reception in Brazil". In 2002, Riggemann obtained before the Bavarian Administrative Court that crosses attached to the classroom walls in Bavaria could be removed during his lessons.
