Console frame

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bracket scaffold (also art scaffold called) is a framework in which brackets are attached to the outer wall in cast-attach, which must be removed after dismantling of the scaffold. A console is a galvanized triangular steel structure with a hanging hook. The edge lengths are preferably 110 cm. Such scaffolding is mainly used in industrial chimney construction up to a height of about 120 meters. Heights beyond this are ineffective because of the effort to be secured.

Use in chimney construction

If the chimney has no suspension loops or other fastening options, a steel cable (min. 18 mm diameter) is placed around the chimney and fixed in length with cable clamps. To tension the rope, wooden wedges are pushed under the steel rope at intervals of approx. 80 cm.

Once all the wooden wedges have been distributed under the steel cable, a console is attached at the created intervals. The distance between the consoles is bridged with scaffolding boards approx. 150 cm long until the circle closes.

Work on the chimney can be carried out from this console ring. To "upgrade", simply lay another steel cable from the existing work scaffolding and proceed as with the first. Then the existing bracket frame is hung up or around piece by piece.

effort

A middle chimney 80 meters high has a typical circumference of around 20 meters in the foot area. Approx. 25 consoles are required for this. "Upgrading" to the mouth of an 80 meter high chimney - without renovation or repairs - usually takes 3 to 4 days. This activity is accomplished with at least two scaffolding workers.

pads

According to Bau-BG (Bau-Berufsgenossenschaft), work on bracket scaffolding may only be carried out up to wind force 6 (strong wind), but it is often necessary to continue this work even at wind forces 8 to 9 (stormy wind - storm). Fatal accidents are therefore not uncommon. Often, especially during thunderstorms, the bracket scaffolding is blown over by the influence of the wind if it is not properly secured. Bracket scaffolding may only be attached to reinforced concrete ceilings.
